Exercise FUNCHAL 500 is a high profile international sail-training event organized by Sail Training International.  The Joint Services are entering a Challenge 67 HMSTV Endeavour in the event which will take place in 4 legs from 8 SEPT 08 – 1 NOV 08.

The STV will make passage from Gosport to Funchal (Madeira) via the Race Start Line at Falmouth and the Port of Alveiro, Ilhavo (Portugal). The trip will provide an opportunity for Yachtmasters Offshore to complete a qualifying passage to gain their Yachtmaster Ocean Certificate and additional training for individuals on Challenge 67 yachts prior to Exercise Transglobe. 

The aim of the exercise is to develop the personal qualities essential to members of HM Forces, Reserve Forces and Officer candidates from University through adventurous sail training in a Service environment.
